The coffee center

My husband and I wanted custom cabinetry and finishes. To save $ we finished them ourselves.

I took this pic while before the front doors were dry but I really like the end result

I had these painted "toasted white" by our painter and when they were done I hated the color (had a pink tint to them)! So instead of repainting them, I glazed over them with a nickel bronze color and I love them now!

The cabinet to the left is the before pic to the posting above.

This is our bar area and you'll see some before pics below. I can't make my mind up on bar stools so we bought these temporary ones. I couldn't stand them being bear so I end up staining them too.

This color is Beachnut by Shirwin Williams. I hand painted all the hangup with Vandike brown.

Our kithcen island and back wall cabinets. I wanted a mixed color effect and that cost extra! Much more extra.

I painted the island, the coffee center (see above), and the cabinet above my stovetop the same and stained the rest. I really love this combination.

Interior view of my kitchen island.

Not bad for an amateur! This project took us over 4 months to do, but it saved us over $5,000.00. So worth it! And NO! I will not help you with your refinishing projects! I want to actually enjoy the lake :)
Aunt Nancy, your site is amazing. You have so many talents. Love you!!!
ReplyDeleteNICE JOB!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks Janet! The base color has 1 coat of kilz, 2 coats of semi-gloss linen by General Finishes milk paint. Then I used a water damped lint free rag and dabbed it with water-based General Finishes Black Walnut and wiped it on. I used light stokes until I got the finish I wanted. Then finished off with 3 coats of minwax polyacrylic semi-gloss.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
