The Hospital was selling patient room benches for $10.00 each. I thought that was a fabulous deal, so I bought 4 of them. When I told my husband he needed to help me get them home he said "4 of them! What are you going to do make our house look like the radiology department? How cute is he!
These little bad boys are going to the Lake house. This is the best "before" photo I have, but you can tell they have huge potential!
First things first. This purple material has to go! I wasn't sure I would use the foam but the material was vinyl lined so I felt comfortable reusing the foam. It was in great shape too! Bonus!!!
Never refuse help! My Hubby helped me remove about 1000 staples! OK slight exaggeration..
After a good sanding and cleaning I used my Black stain
The wood is red oak so the red bleeds thru a little. I actually like it. It almost looks like a black cherry color. Three coats of polyurethane and this one is done.
Since this is going in my husbands "man cave" aka the pool room. The material can't be too girly.
You can't go wrong with black and teeny tiny little tan polka dots.
And there it is all done. I love the low back and how it sits beneath the window seal. I think it looks like a Pier One Import style sofa/bench.
Uh Oh, how do I center this? I don't! Just make another one! Not too girly, not too many pillows for a "man couch" and NOT at all like the radiology department! He likes them, I love them! What do you think?
I can't wait for you to see what I'm going to do with the other 2!http://funwithnancy.blogspot.com/
What a great project! Atta girl! Hope you dont feel a draft in your back. That's what a radiology bench reminds me of LOL
